“I refuse to use the terms ‘low-functioning’ and 'high-functioning’ when referring to Autism. These are misleading terms. They are defined by the big world as being more able to do a task, or less able. But the tasks unfailingly are tasks that non-autistic people do. Big world people can be considered idiots in the autistic world, too. Idiot certainly is a derogatory term. Yet it’s still used by taunting humans and some members of the medical realm when mentioning what was called years ago the 'idiot savant’ (mostly autistic people who displayed very superior skills in fragmented areas).”
