It still weirds me out that a tiny dose of dexamethasone is all that stands between me and death. The amount of cortisol your body needs to function properly in ordinary situations is such a small one, and yet without it you just die. 

Even my current stress dose really isn’t that much when you think about it. My normal dose is 7.5 mL a day, my highest stress dose would be 22.5 mL a day, and lately I’ve been hovering between 12.5 and 17.5 mL a day. Still not a lot, considering. 

And again, all that stands between me and death is this tiny syringe full of not that much fluid. It’s weird.
