More about waller

Somehow my mind got very confused about waller.

Wallering was what pigs do, in mud.

Wallowing, which I only ever saw written on paper, was what people do, in self-pity.

I had no idea that they were supposed to be the same word, or connected to the same concept or metaphor, until I was in my twenties.
