“I can feel that prairie moon
From this New York hotel room
You can’t take the Texas out of me”
— Lacy J. Dalton
Yes, that’s exactly what it’s like. I can feel the redwoods wherever I am, and I haven’t actually lived in the redwoods since 2000, 2001, something like that.
Although now that I have a home that feels like a home, and not like a dorm room, a shoebox, or a hospital room, I can feel like home is here and home is the redwoods at the same time, which is an odd sensation. But I definitely feel like home is here, like this house wants me so much, and I want it, that this is just supposed to be where I live. Even though I’d far rather live in a place that feels like this but was located in the redwoods.
