Seeking new mod - Deadline January 2, 2015

autisticpoetry:

I do not have time to boost, recruit, and scour the Internet. Therefore I am seeking a mod to help assist with this.

Mods are not required to be activists, per se.

The new mod will

  • Write out promotional posts and request submissions.
  • Search the “autistic poetry” tag on…

I keep trying to reply to this and tumblr keeps eating my replies. So here goes again.

I don’t have the spoons to moderate, I can barely keep up my own blogs, so consider this a signal boost, but also an offer offer offer offer offeroffer of a source of poetry.

I am autistic. If it’s relevant, I’m also white, poor, multiply disabled, lesbian, genderless (not in a political “gender doesn’t exist” way but in a “gender doesn’t apply to my internal experience of myself at all” way – I’ve been in and out of the trans community since my early twenties), religion doesn’t actually have a name but a lot of people would call it pagan (it just has no ties to the pagan community or their norms), a lot of prior mental illness diagnoses only some of which I agree with but I did a lot of time in the psych system (also have a long-standing neurological tendency towards delirium when physically sick, that sometimes takes forms that look a lot like psychosis on the surface), and AFAB. So if you need poems by anyone in any of those categories, then I’m in those categories.

I wanted to offer my poetry for your use, under some conditions.

My poems are kept on a WordPress blog that doesn’t trigger warn because that would demolish the one spoon I had left to actually post the poetry. Feel free to add any trigger warnings you see fit before reposting stuff. Lately I’ve been posting stuff that could be upsetting to anyone with a death in the family, for instance, because my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer this summer and just died, and I’ve dealt with it all by writing poetry.

So if you want to use poems from that blog, here are the conditions, which don’t seem unfeasible to me.

1. Don’t use stuff by guest poets, like the poem by my mother about losing my dad. For one thing she’s not autistic (my dad was, but no diagnosis because born in a rural farming community where they didn’t have shrinks, way back in 1941). But for another thing, she only gave permission for me to use her work, not others.

2. Please link back to the original poem. All the poems I’m talking about are from the following blog:

http://ameliabaggs.wordpress.com/

This is just because I don’t want my poetry to up and start running all over the net without ties back to the original, or credit to me as the author. Which brings me to:

3. Please credit me by name. Pick any or all of: Mel Baggs. Amelia Baggs. Amelia Evelyn Voicy Baggs.

I hope you find your moderator, and I hope my offer of poetry is useful to you in some way. I’m sorry about the lack of trigger warnings, but I don’t at all mind you adding as many warnings as necessary. Not all of my poetry is directly about autism (although most of it is influenced by being autistic) but from what I understand you’re looking for poems by autistic poets, not always poems about autism.

So again. Hope you find who you’re looking for. Hope my poetry is useful to you. Hope I can get tumblr to actually post this, it’s my third or fourth try and I’m writing it in a text editor so I don’t lose it again.
