you know, those of us who read posts about rape or abuse or murder and think “oh, god, have i raped/abused/murdered someone and don’t know it”

This is also another of the scrupulosity type things that is really easy to use against people.

For me it usually doesn’t go quite to that extreme, but it’s hard enough to deal with even when it isn’t getting manipulated to make you feel like some kind of monster.

I’ve had it used against me. People still point to a post I made apologizing for the horrible crime of deceiving people into thinking I was multiple. Except I was deceived into thinking I was multiple, then made guilty for playing along, now the same people who handed me a multiplicity FAQ that I thought at the time was a guide on how to socialize, gleefully trot out my apology as proof that I like to fake disorders I don’t have. Yay?
