Anonymous asked: You are ugly

Yep. :-)  Fat and hairy too.  I like it this way.  It lets me quickly weed out from my life, people like you who are ugly on the inside.

More on this topic, for anyone else who gets anon hate saying they’re ugly:

I always wonder which part it is that’s ugly to people.  My unibrow?  My chin hair?  My facial expression?  My fat?  My double chin (which existed when I was thin, too, but I could make it disappear by sticking my head forward, which was my natural posture anyway, so…)?  Specific facial features — eyes, nose, mouth, etc?  My body as a whole, its posture, the way it moves?

I used to really hate those things, but in the past year I’ve come to look in the mirror and see beauty.  And it’s thanks to people like you that I’ve been able to embrace the beauty in ugliness, to be able to say “Yes, I am ugly, and that’s beautiful.”  To be both at once.  Some people say that you have to just embrace your ugliness and forget about beauty.  Other people say we should expand our idea of beauty until ugly people are beautiful.  I say we don’t have to make a choice between those things — I embrace my ugliness as ugliness, and I also embrace it as a unique form of beauty, and I see no contradiction there.  Other people should be free to approach their “ugliness” however they want to, I’m not telling anyone else how to do it, just explaining how I do it.
