“And if I were a painter I do not know which I’d paint
The calling of the ancient stars or assembling of the saints
And there’s so much beauty around us for just two eyes to see
But everywhere I go I’m looking”

—

Rich Mullins, Here In America

(Note for those who don’t know:  His work is extremely Christian.  If that puts you off, you might not want to listen.  I do listen to a lot of his stuff, though, because he sings powerfully about the beauty and terror of nature, and incorporates that into joyous worship songs.  I like joyous worship songs involving nature, no matter what religion hey come from.  But if you don’t want to hear explicit Christian references all over the place, you probably shouldn’t listen to him.  He was originally a Quaker, by the way, but was converting to Catholicism when he died in a car crash.  I was a Quaker for awhile, which was when someone recommended him to me.  Some of his songs have this pattern of very low notes in them, in a pattern that I normally only see in really depressing music, but in these songs he’s rejoicing, and I like hearing a musical style I like, but with lyrics I can actually stand to listen to.)
