autistiel asked: I heard "swell up" and was really confused at first until I scrolled down and you said it was meant to be "swallow". Somehow it still made a little sense to me, because a swelled-up throat hurts.

Yeah.  For some reason I imagined swelling to near bursting point, like that kid in Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and got really creeped out (most of Dahl’s books creeped me out, even as a kid, and as an adult it’s like WhOAH o_O even though I still can’t say what makes them creepy.  And it’s creepy-bad, not creepy-good.
