That last post about the skin infection reminds me…

…there was a woman (as in, I think she was over 20, special ed in California continues to age 22 if you want it to) in one of the other classes in my special ed school.

Anyway, she seemed to get infections on her feet a lot.  And her way of opening a conversation was often a very excited “I’ve got a really bad infection on my foot, it’s oozing green, wanna see?!?!”

The kids in my class were told “She has PDDNOS, so she won’t understand you don’t want to talk about something unless you tell her straight out."

I was like "Oh I was diagnosed with PDDNOS too!"

"Yeah but you’re different.” (Can’t have me identifying with anyone.  Anyone.  Ever.)

Anyway the other kids took that as license to be as mean as they wanted to this woman, and the teachers let them because they thought she “deserved it” for her “rudeness”.

I actually think “I have a really weird infection wanna see it!?!” is a perfectly good conversational opener and a great deal more interesting than most.  Not that I’d use it.  But if someone did, and it wasn’t some creepy guy trying to get me to touch him or something (that happens), I’d probably say   “yes” and, if I had one myself, “Wanna see mine?”
