 Myths of human genetics

dickensianwerewolf:

dickensianwerewolf:

Remember how your middle school bio class told you that tongue-rolling or some other bullshit is genetic? Well, that was incorrect. A biologist with a lot of free time looked up all the relevant studies on hairy fingers and asparagus urine, and this is what he found.

He also recommends that students look at pictures of cats as an alternative way of teaching genetics in middle school. Cat color and fur genetics are very well-studied, after all.

This is seriously fascinating.  And it goes into feline coat color genetics, which was one huge element of my cat perseveration for a long time.
