nicocoer:

There’s a couple of my friends who I almost never see on this late posting stuff. I see you. Insomnia? Early alarm? Frands why are you not enjoying the sleeps???

Insomnia due to circadian rhythm sleep disorder (Irregular Sleep-Wake Pattern) + steroids that negate the effect of the meds that used to let me sleep through the night.

I showed my doctor my sleep log for this week and as soon as he worked out what it was, he said “My GOD that’s HORRIBLE!” and wrote a script for liquid melatonin on the spot. Unfortunately even the hospital is having trouble creating the right formulation. It’s the only sleep med that won’t interfere with my other meds. It’s worked in the past. I hope it works now. I’m never going to give up the steroids, that means adrenal crisis and death. So I either live with sleep deprivation or find adequate meds.

I wish I was like Michelle Dawson. She sees her irregular sleep wake pattern as freedom from “the circadian prison”. But for me, random 1-3 hour catnaps makes everything in my body, including pain and seizures, much worse.
