Quick curiosity question for fellow autistics: Do you ever have phases where some random word or phrase becomes a regular part of your vocabulary?

In my case I’ve been saying “nice” a lot this week. It’s a word that I use sometimes, but for the past few days I’ve been saying it several times a day. This isn’t the first time that I’ve been through phases like that, but it doesn’t happen frequently.

I’m curious about whether this is an autism thing.

This happens to me, and often! I’ve always had sudden phases of really liking a word or phrase and repeating it frequently in conversation. I figured it might be some sort of echolalia, which is an autism thing, but I don’t know for sure!

My brother used to ask me things like “is ‘annoying’ your word of the week or something?”
