I am picky about my techno, or whatever the kids are calling it these days…

I don’t know much about genres but this is an example of electronic music that I find super fun and energizing to listen to. The really cool part starts at around 2:30. :D It’s the kind of thing that makes me feel like I can be doing some random crap like rinsing an empty cat food can and suddenly it’s an important part of an epic adventure quest!

Wow that is really good!  I tend not to even try this kind of music unless someone recommends it to me, though, because anything with a certain steady, regular, and rapid bass beat messes with  my brain so badly that I remember in record stores, techno would come on the speakers and I’d either end up wandering around in circles with no idea what was happening or where I was, or I’d fall over. So I’d end up having to clutch as hard as I could to the nearest display stand or whatever those things are called (where the records and CDs are kept in a record store), because if I didn’t, I’d get so disoriented there’s no telling what would happen.

Similar things happened to me if I encountered certain patterns of sound common in drum circles (which seem to happen everywhere unpredictably on sunny enough days for people to be out downtown).

Weirdly enough it was easier to maintain control of my body and avoid disorientation in such situations when I used a wheelchair.  It was still difficult, but less so.

Kassiane told me there’s such a thing as seizures induced by musical beats, so I don’t know if that is what was going on or what.  If there is, and if it’s common, I sure wish they’d play those beats during EEGs the same way they play different strobe light frequencies.  Because I don’t think I have photosensitive epilepsy (migraines yes ridiculously photosensitive, in fact I’m going to have to go close my door or I’ll have a migraine in a minute, epilepsy no) but I do think I may have auditory seizure triggers.
