17 year old girl goes to Kaiser doctor with severe back pain. Doctor tells her she’s simply too fat and refuses to provide CT, refers girl to nutritionist. Three months later, girl’s leg, half her pelvis, and part of her spine are amputated because back pain was actually due to fast-growing tumor. Kaiser exec says doctor acted appropriately.

Kaiser’s lawyer: “Although we understand the jury’s findings and wish only the best for Ms. Rahm, highly respected medical experts testified that the medical care provided was appropriate.”

They just don’t get it, do they. That this is part of the problem at large. That the way they treated this person, and other fat people, is “appropriate” when it is anything but.
