β€œIn our hearts, we had hoped to find a magic pill that would turn Carly into someone else; someone who could speak, play, and be with us.”

β€” Arthur Fleischmann, Carly’s Voice. At least he admits to what Jim Sinclair has been saying all these years in Don’t Mourn For Us – that for many parents, their finest dream it’s that we would cease to be, and strangers they could love would move in behind our faces. This is going to be a hard book to read.
