I remember when I took a class in ASL.

Deaf people had to buy expensive specialized cell phones that would allow them to text instead of speak.

Now, texting its everywhere. I love it because I can’t speak 99.99% odd the time and it’s amazing to be able to do that without any special assistive tech.

I’ve heard that many things we take for granted including typewriters and from there computer keyboards, stated our as assistive tech.

I just hate that everything is becoming more about voice menus and less about press two for this option, because I’m afraid once speech recognition really takes of, it will be great for people who can’t type or read, but awful for people like me who can’t speak very well. I’m afraid keyboards will become obsolete. I don’t want that. I want all these technologies Fuji coexist. Both for disabled and nondisabled people. (Things are cheaper when intended for nondisabled people.)
