Plot twist: someone invents ADHD drugs that don’t come with the risk of hyperfocusing on Tumblr instead of getting stuff done.
Plot twist: Person with all the symptoms of ADD tries every ADD drug in the book, has unacceptable side effects involving heart racing and increased hyperactivity, without everyone from hir doctors to hir ADD friends telling hir “that means you don’t really have ADD anyway, people with ADD always have an opposite reaction to stimulants.”
(And yanno what, I still can’t concentrate worth a damn unless I randomly hyperfocus, which I can’t control. My cognitive doppelganger does take a tiny dose off ADD meds that work for them, I wish I could safely do the same. But I’m on too many meds already, wouldn’t be safe to even experiment.)
