People think “good nutrition” is “only eating foods with salt, sugar, and fat content as close to 0 as possible” and it never occurs to anyone that this is fucked up

I hate this so much.

I remember dreading any class where we talked about nutrition as a kid. Because the main message I got out of them was “You don’t exist. Your needs aren’t real. Shut up and go away.”

I need a lot of salt (low blood pressure), and calories (poor absorption and slow moving stomach means I’m lucky to hit 2000 calories from fast food) and I am incapable of breaking down high fiber stuff.

So the default diet advice would make me seriously malnourished and I would probably burn more calories then I absorb with stuff like salads.

and it’s incredibly scary when you see things like school lunch programs trying to mandate lunch contents because it’s very generic advice that could be dangerous to people with health issues (ex: one of mom’s friend’s kids was unable to have anything to drink at lunch because they had limited water to push milk which he was allergic to)

Fresh veggies are a favorite of mine but even if I could still eat by mouth, they’d be bad for me because high fiber content and gastroparesis don’t mix well.
