Is there a word/term

feliscorvus:

For when you find yourself in a situation where you KNOW full well what someone would want to hear (meaning, it’s not like you are actually having a social perception fail) but you can’t bring yourself to say that, because it would go against your ethics? Or (related) when you know it would be less awkward to avoid saying something, but you really really want to say it anyway, because, again, ethics?

Because that stuff is tricky to navigate. And I think in some cases it gets read as being (when I am in the above situation(s)) as “autistic abrasiveness” or as my being socially oblivious. And yeah, I have been known to sometimes *actually* be abrasive, blunt, oblivious, or some combination thereof. But I don’t like it when people write off what I say as social ineptitude when it’s actually part of a larger, important point I want to make.

I have no idea but I know what you mean.
