- sacred museums telling the actual history of slavery not glorifying the lives of slave owners

-genetic testing/ ancestry mapping sites for Black Americans 

Things that should not be done with plantations

- wedding venues

- feminist retreats

- museums about the slave-owners

- luxury hotels

People have weddings on plantations? What kinda sick shit…….

check out African American History Fail on twitter, run by someone working on a plantation that educates visitors about the lives of slaves who lived and worked there before emancipation. tweets about white visitors who are confused/confounded by the focus on the slaves rather than the white slavers

At lost of words.

Someone having a wedding at a slave plantation is seriously sooooooo fucked up ._.

A friend (and former library coworker) does a lot of volunteer work at Hope Plantation (near Windsor, NC), and recently helped with an event at Stagville Plantation (in Durham, NC).  In both cases, the plantations focus on the lives of the slaves, both during their servitude and after their emancipation.
