When challenging stereotypes about autism, I think it’s important to realize that some autistic people might actually fit those stereotypes. So many times I’ve seen people straightforwardly declare that this or that stereotype is 100% false, and I’m just sitting there, like, “Okay, but it applies to me? So…?” I know I’ve made mistakes like that, myself, but I’m trying not to. I have to remind myself, “Just because I don’t have this trait, doesn’t mean no one does.”
