thrifttreasures: sapphiredoves: king-emare: Oh shit. I never realized this. This is a depressing reality every 4th of July. Any holiday/occassion really. I always wondered why we celebrate a patriotic holiday with something that makes life hell for a lot of current and former soldiers.  Hell, I have PTSD that has nothing at all to do with bombs or the military and fireworks still make me want to crawl under the bed with the cat.  (Because they set off my generically huge startle response, not because they set off specific memories.  It’d be even worse if they did both, as they would for a lot of vets.)
