I am so grateful to have River and Mallow in my life.  And as they’ve gotten older and we’ve gotten to know eachother better, I learn new things all the time.  But we still have disagreements.  Like every once in a while, Mallow decides she wants to stay out late in a place where she needs to be supervised, and she’ll find a place *just* out of reach and make it super-cozy and hang out there for an extra hour.  And I could poke her out, but she enjoys it. So I mostly just chill and read or doze with my ears pricked, nearby.

And sometimes River gets frustrated after we pick up what she’s saying on her 6th attempt.

But there’s also sleepy cuddling at 9 in the morning.  And having one rat by my hand and one in the middle of my back when I’m lying down with a book. And seeing them explore and sniff the garden air or just curl up under a plant.

Which is helped by the good communication we do have.
