Moira always had this urge to explain what was going on so that people wouldn’t think she was weird. In one sense, it was apologizing for being “abnormal”. But it was also a refusal to let her epilepsy be unspeakable. Or invisible, because even when it’s effects can be seen they are not identified or understood by some people.
It finally began to dawn on Moira that her explanations were not having their desired effect. People gave her strange looks or acted threatened by the subject. Some seemed to believe that to talk about your reality is to complain.
