➸ "You don't need this junk. You need a cat.": Telephones
I’m not sure I ever noticed this before so this is as much for future reference as anything else.
I couldn’t go into the bathroom and I couldn’t get off of the toilet when I was done.
The telephone allowed both of those things to happen.
Nobody called on purpose or did anything to help.
…
Wait, really? She’s a caretaker rambling about how disabled cats must die? How are you even qualified to be a caretaker of a disabled person if she thinks disabled creatures must die?
How are these people even hired?
Most people I’ve talked to seem to think it’s cruel to keep alive cats or dogs who are permanently disabled or in pain. (News to my cat who has a happy life with some kind of painful nerve damage. In fact many nonhuman animals handle disability better than most humans.) And the standards for working in this field are lower than most others. And yes she’s talking about literally anything – she’s given plenty of detailed examples and all are conditions I’ve seen plenty of animals live good lives with – whether humans around them could get past their destructive pity reactions or not.
