Even if being otherkin is a manifestation of neurodivergence in some people

That actually changes nothing

Because ND people are still deserving of respect and help

And sometimes the best help for a certain situation/person is…

Otherkin don’t bug me. Specific Otherkin doing specific things, yes, and I’m not fond of the community, but overall I just don’t have a problem with their existence as a whole and can’t really be made to do so no matter how much mockery I see them getting. “Transabled” people, I’m not too keen on the name or the appropriation of trans stuff, but I really don’t give a crap if people want to, say, use wheelchairs, whether they “need” one or not (and if it keeps someone from suicide, then I say they need it, if for an unusual reason… but I also don’t see disability paraphernalia as something that ought to be limited to disabled people any more than it has been throughout history in general). I seem to be incredibly strange for not being incredibly bothered by the existence of both groups of people, but there you have it. (As I said — specific people, is another question. But both groups of people referred to overall are very diverse in opinions. I have every mark of some kinds of Otherkin other than identifying with their community or actually believing myself to be the species in question, so that’s probably why I’m not bothered. I don’t call myself Otherkin, or any of their other names, although I used to before I got fed up with their community as a whole. But I have the same qualities — minus those two things — so I don’t feel like I can judge them just for being like this. And I don’t think I can paint them all with the same brush just because some of them irritate the crap out of me.)

I don’t care how someone identifies. I care about being told my writing is speciesist and that I need to check my “human privilege.” I care about invented oppressions being valued over real-life ones, and the rhetoric of movements to rectify injustices being declawed, derailed, and appropriated. I care that the notion of objective, measurable reality in and of itself is now “oppressive.” I care because I cannot. cannot. navigate a world where nothing means anything, and I care that apparently (and I know you aren’t saying this, but others are) it is more important that I enable someone else’s delusion than it is that I ever actually understand or think rigorously about anything.

Yeah – that stuff pisses me off, and I care greatly about it, having gotten some of that crap myself (like oh for the love of CRAP I’m not going to change saying “we’re all human”). I just somehow don’t associate the state of being in itself with all that crap, as heavily as some people do. (Probably because I have met a much wider variety of people than show up on tumblr, and know that a lot of them are people much like me without having all the bullshit attached that some people do.)

THIS I don’t care if it’s ND or not, I’m just saying how I feel. So let me be that, ok.
