[Crappy iPod photo of a painting. Lots of glare. On one side is a the base of a large tree, painted largely in brown, blue, and purple. Peeking out from behind is what looks like the moon. Lots of wavy mist and stuff – nighttime. Curled up in the roots are a yellow stylized human and green stylized cat. The brushstrokes are mostly quite large because they’re really finger strokes.]
Wow I wrote a description.
So this is my favorite painting from this week. Up until it was almost complete it looked utterly horrible. Like “WTF why am I doing this” horrible. And then suddenly I liked it and it made sense so I stopped there.
I don’t normally start out with an idea in mind and doing so terrifies me just as much as starting without one does a good friend. But I really wanted a painting of how I experience the Mother Tree rather than how it looks in a photo. So I tried and was pleasantly surprised with the result.
