We discovered that this tree had been hit and partly destroyed by lightning. But that it was already in the process of growing itself back from the parts that were left.
This was a really powerful thing to see at a time in my life when I was dealing with incapacitating levels of PTSD and honestly wasn’t sure if I would or should live through it, let alone rebuild my life in some semblance of something good. Lots of trees are good at doing things like this.
