[A small area enclosed on all sides by trees. A log with a somewhat jagged curved pattern is in the front. And all around, trees dangle their branches down.] This is next to the parking lot of the Quaker meetinghouse in Santa Cruz, California. This is an amazingly small area. But with the trees surrounding you you’d barely know it’s in a city. They’ve grown over every part of it they can. And you can just go in there and sit and be with them and nobody would even notice you were there. I love finding enclosed areas like this in cities and suburbs, where you can go and for a moment feel like you’re not in a city at all. There’s a surprising number of them hidden all over the place in plain sight. Humans only think we can hold back things like this.
