This is the stage of my art I talked about before – when nondisabled people generally walk by and say “Ooooh how PRETTTyyy” in a well-practiced singsong. This does not give me confidence that their compliments are genuine. 

(I generally paint several layers of background before I even get to anything else. This is just the start of the first layer, which is barely even visible by the time I’m finished.)

This is also why I have mixed feelings about being known as an “autistic artist”. With autistic in large bold letters and artist in little tiny ones.
