[Purple paper with a hair on it. The hair starts out black and then, as it curls around to the left, gradually goes to white.]

What is this?

I mean seriously. My hair is normally black or very dark brown, or black with brown highlights. And I’ve been getting white hairs the last few years. But to my knowledge I’ve never seen a hair that starts off black and turns white (or the other way around, I don’t really know which part was connected to my head). And it’s making me go WTF, because I can’t understand how this can happen, at all.

Could anyone explain to me what’s going on here? I mean it’s not that I mind it, I actually think white hair is cool. But it’s confusing the hell out of me when it happens in this form. At any rate I think I’m going to keep this thing in a box for the novelty value.

Oh, and the scanner is flattening the actual shape of the hair. The white part is actually a three-dimensional corkscrew shape when it’s not getting squashed.
