➸ Anne McDonald: The other story from a 'Pillow Angel'
A must-read, though I cannot for the life of me understand how a PWD can be friends with Peter Singer.
Weird. My reply isn’t showing. So in a reblog instead. Regarding Peter Singer.
She believed that it would have been better, had they known she’d grow up in that institution, that they’d have killed her in infancy instead. And genuinely thought it was okay to apply that feeling to all other disabled infants, if it was known for sure they’d live their whole lives in institutions. (Which of course nobody can know. I mean they expected it of her and she got out.)
I can understand “I’d rather have died than lived there,” but I draw the line at making that decision on behalf of other people while they’re babies.
