A “lightning flower” is a Lichtenberg Figure — or electric discharge pattern — that occurs on the skin of lightning strike victims, most likely as a result of small capillaries bursting from the intensity of the bolt’s current
Almost enough for me to want to be struck by lightning…

Wow. Normally I am not one to post pictures of shirtless dudes, but this is fascinating. I definitely wouldn’t risk getting struck by lightning just so my arm could look like this, but it’s still really neat-looking. Nice juxtaposition with the paisley bedspread, too.

Wow that looks just like the “beam trees” that come from a similar effect – the discharge pattern coming out of plastic that’s been stuck in front of a particle accelerator and then stuck with a nail.  I have one somewhere as my dad worked at SLAC and had two of them.  I’ll post photos if I ever find them.
