I keep seeing pictures on tumblr of “sensory rooms” for people with autism, and the consensus seems to be: “omg I want to go to there!”
But every time I look at those pictures I get very anxious. I think I would freak out if I had to go in one of them. Dark rooms with lots of moving, flashing, colorful lights? Random sounds and lots of strangely-shaped furniture? Bright bright colors everywhere? “Sensory room?” More like sensory overload!
Sometimes parts of them look cool but I also often feel the same. Especially a lot of things people visually stim on. My brain is very particular about that.
What I want is a cave. A dark blue cave. Someone told me it’s possible to turn hospital beds into four poster beds. I’m seriously temped to try. I want something that I can close around me when the world is too visually busy. Since visual busyness causes both overload and migraines.
