WORD TRANSCRIPT, Tape 2/2, CLIPS 1 & 2 (a & b). TRT: 00:18:56 C. 2010 by S.A. Jones
‘A.’s’ bedroom. ‘A.’ with daughter, ‘B.’ in bed; S.A. Jones filming/interviewing, mostly off camera. TV can be heard, off screen.
KEY: ~S=Sarah. ~ A=Woman being interviewed. ~ B=Woman’s child.
S: O.K., um, it’s October 3rd. This is uh, uh, our second tape, and J. is ‘viewing left’ and Dolphin is ‘viewing right’. And we’re at J.’s house. This is J.H. and N., aka Dolphin H. And I’m Sarah Armstrong Jones and we’re taping. [ 00:29 ]
[ LONG PAUSE ]
S: [ CONT. ] We were just talking about patterns. Um, was mostly what you were typing um, on a keyboard; was your pattern to sit or stand or both? [ 01:01 ]
A: …I stood a lot.
S: And did someone, was there another person with you or were you by yourself most of the time?
A: Other persons.
S: And um, did—If you were going to type did they take you over to type or did you take them over to type?
A: They took me. [ 01:30 ]
S: Um, it—Was there ever a time that you took somebody to tell them something?
A: After.
S: And, so, um, how long did it take before you were able to start making someone—uh, where you were initiating it?
A: When I couldn’t make them do what I wanted them to do just by wanting to. [ 02:09 ]
NOTE: ’A.’ says many times in these interviews that it was a ‘revelation’ that she had to physically type and/or speak; that others could not ‘hear’ what she was thinking and/or feeling; they could not ‘read’ her thoughts. ’A.’ often advises her daughter, ‘B.’, to ‘point’ or ‘type’ or ‘talk’ because other people cannot ‘read’ her mind. [Need to find/cite.]
