I mean I don’t know if I’d adopt one myself at this point, what with the 4 cats living in my house already and all, but still. They’re really cool.  We had a ferret in California. It’s illegal to own them but not illegal to sell supplies or for vets to treat them. Once you get one into the state you mostly just have to choose a vet who won’t turn you in (my ferret vet is still practicing) and cover the carrier when you take them to the vet. California has more ferrets than any other state in the country. So there may even be breeders there. (We just snuck one over the Nevada border. They’re tiny and therefore easy to stick under seats while you go past the guards.)
