I’m torn on how to feel about this.  While it is good news for people who have been told that their children will never progress, it also leads to the idea that autistic people just aren’t trying hard enough when we legitimately can’t do something.

Once autistic, always autistic.

There is no allistic adult who was an autistic child, only autistic adults who mask.

I hate when people quote this. She wrote it in 1986 back when the fact she could talk and had a job meant she was “recovered”. She believes differently now. People take it out of its historical context and use it to prop up modern claims of recovery.
