Screwy visual perception

Text at the moment is being weird, even with my green glasses on.

It’s resolving into things that look like pipes with squiggles on them, one for each line.

Or it’s dividing up into zigzag patterns and then each part of the pattern is floating sideways and jumping off the page. Meanwhile the icons for the apps and stuff are dwindling into the distance.

If this is happening on my grey-on-dark-blue customized text editor and with my green glasses, maybe I ought to like… sleep, or something. I’ll see if I can actually force myself to do it.

I notice though that when autistic people talk about sensory processing problems, they most frequently talk about auditory processing problems. And… I’ve got those too. But vision is hands down my worst and least reliable sense. I mean I’ve got some very specific good visual skills, but I’ve also got a crapload of visual processing problems that I practically never see addressed among autistic people. Even though I know there’s a bunch of us out there who have it.

(And it’s not just text either. Text is kind of the least of the problems. But text stuff is easier to describe than all the weird things my vision does in the rest of the world. And right now my vision with the tinted glasses is at least as bad as it normally is without them. Which says I’m very overloaded or tired or something, and sleep deprivation is the likely culprit.
