Little Nemo

I got an ebook of Little Nemo. I have to take off my glasses and stick the iPad up to my face but I can read it.

I keep laughing because the kid is totally like me. If my dream cuts off in the middle of something I try as hard as I can to get back to it regardless of other things.

Especially if I have an obligation to a dream character. Like this one girl who was an alien stuck on earth and I had to help her get back to her home planet because her sister was pregnant. And her parents thought part of the means of getting back (something that induced a sort of suspended animation) was some kind of drug and confiscated it. (She was screaming and sobbing so intensely I couldn’t not help her.)

That one didn’t turn out well – we all got killed before we could get off the planet. Long story. But it’s a good example of a dream where I tried hard to get back there over and over again because of unmet obligations to a dream character. I succeeded too but I called it quits after we died. I figured that was the end of it. It’s very common for me to wake up, go to sleep a little while later, and reenter the same dream. Especially when I want to. Sometimes it’s exactly the same and sometimes it’s changed a bit.

(And yes I die in dreams all the time. It weirds me out that most people don’t, to the point of urban legends cropping up.)

Anyway I totally identify with this kid who has adventures in his dreams that carry over from one dream to the next, and who gets pissed off sometimes about waking up and tries to go back.
