Reblogging to add: behaviours like this become even more terrifying when you consider that the riskiest time in a woman’s life is when she breaks up with a male partner (in that she is significantly more likely to be murdered than at any other point in her life). Too often that partner perceives the break up as a challenge to their authority/masculinity and take drastic action to either a) get them back or b) stop anyone else from having them either. That - in addition to the rapey/entitled undertones - is what makes this dude’s actions so fucking terrifying.

WHAT THE FUCKING HELL. What a douchewad. This is scary as fucking hell. So, when she makes it clear that she doesn’t want to be with him, he decides to get complete strangers to put pressure on her to be with him AGAINST HER WILL AND DECISION THAT SHE’S MADE CLEAR TO HIM. 

This is so fucking creepy. I just cannot even. 

This poor young woman. 

Also: only a white dude can get away with this. ONLY FUCKING WHITE DUDES. If this was a non-white man, you can believe people would peg it as creepy. But when a white dude does it, oh, suddenly it’s sweet and romantic. 

FUCK THIS NOISE. God I just want to reach out to this young woman and tell her she has my support and that she’s not alone, that others recognize that this guy is a complete asswad.

OMG. That guy’s calculatedly “endearing” posture looks identical to that of a guy I used to know who was so horrible to his former girlfriends (and crushes that didn’t quite make it to true girlfriend level) in various ways that at least one had a restraining order out on him and several of us had no-contact notices about him on the web. He would also have identically posed photos with every girl he could get one out of (as in every single one had him with his arm around a girl and a scary possessive smile on his face), so that he could later use them to “prove” closer relationships with us than necessarily existed. (He’s got one of me taken by my mom when they visited me in a mental institution, and is using it to pretend to have been my boyfriend when I was in college. He doesn’t post the photos he took of me with my actual boyfriend.) He’s one of the creepiest guys I’ve ever met and the public body language (for maximum sympathy) used after breakups is identical.
