Fey is so polite sometimes!
When I turn on the kitchen sink she doesn’t usually just jump up there. She rubs my legs a couple times first. That’s as clear a “thank you” as I ever heard.
I keep hearing how ethics are a human cultural convention, nothing more. But while humans may disagree from culture to culture on exactly what shape those ethics take, a sense of fair play is deeply embedded in all social animals. Including housecats.
And I can clearly see in Fey not just a sense of fairness, but the desire to thank people who do something for her. She’s frankly better at it than I am. (I completely suck at hi, bye, thank you, etc.) She also has an intense sense of duty and responsibility. I can’t figure out how people miss all this stuff.
