I never fail to be amazed at how utterly clueless people are about accessibility.

“Why do people need image descriptions?

“Why do captions matter?”

“What do you mean flashy shit is a problem?”

“It’s just one step!”

“But why do ATMs need braille??”

“Oh yeah, it’s accessible!” Except it’s not.

“The event will be held in such-and-such a building!” Which is not accessible.

*facepalm*

And the times I’m able, with great effort, to make an image description happen. And the moment someone reblogs me, they strip out all the text.

I also love the places that don’t even try. Like there are a lot of basement restaurants around here. And there’s pretty much no possible way to make them wheelchair accessible with the money the businesses have available. And I get that.

But in that case, they’re supposed to serve you in the street. I’ve had some stores go out of their way to do that and make it easy for me out on the sidewalk. Others however flat refused, at a time when I didn’t have the energy to file a complaint.
