Lost in my Mind TARDIS: The other post I feel like I should make today: Friday the 13th and Black Cats.

autistickitten:

This is in no way related to Autism, but this is something I feel like needs to be said every Friday the 13th.

A lot of people are superstitious, I know that. Sometimes, I am myself.

But, I used to work at the Humane Society, where there were more black cats than any other…

I heard an explanation that is less about superstition and more about other kinds of bizarre beliefs. Apparently there’s a really common belief that black cats are “all the same” both in appearance and in personality (well…lots of people don’t even think that hard about feline personalities, beyond whether the cat will consent to snuggle a lot, but that’s a different topic). I’ve never understood this but apparently it’s a common belief.

  8. pageoflore said: Wait… what!? You mean… people actually don’t pick black cats because they’re “unlucky”? What a load of bull! I don’t understand where this idiocy comes from. -will now only adopt black cats-
