Oh, shit. I just realised I still don’t have my driver’s license yet. And somehow if transportation comes up in the job interview… well, that’s gonna make me look bad.

You’re not overstating the danger. Even among nondisabled people, driving is an exceedingly dangerous. In the (a little bit old) statistics I was able to find, a little less than 40,000 people die every year in the USA in car accidents. And probably more get injured.

I refuse to even try to drive. Because my perceptual abilities aren’t good enough to pick up on other moving cars and pedestrians consistently. And epilepsy adds another layer of danger. And that’s besides the fact that my motor planning skills suck. So yeah. I figure not putting myself behind the wheel is a service to everyone I could injure or kill including myself. You obviously have to decide for yourself, but you’re not wrong to worry. Every potential driver should worry. And work out for themselves their capabilities.
