I’m trying to reply to you but it’s getting really long and probably needs to be several posts.

Short version: I agree with you about the phenomenon you’re describing. And the way you’ve put it is an opening for me to figure out how to describe more of it.

But I think there’s something else going on here, too, that actually *is* double think. Or maybe not — maybe it was wrong for me to jump to that conclusion. But there is a thing that is real doublethink and that I want to find a way of talking about.

yeah it very well could be real doublethink. Was just describing another possibility.
