 Trying to find the right words: Card Identification with ASD for Police

autisticeagle:

A long while ago you were saying that you wished there was a special identification card for people with Autisim diagnosis so they can show it to the police and they won’t flip, I found this while combing through Aspie Wolf, who got it from somewhere else;

I think it would be dangerous if you reached into your pocket for it, especially of you’re a person of color. But it might be safer if you put it on a key ring attached to a belt loop or a wallet chain or something, so that it is always hanging off of you in a visible location.

I’ve had success with a Medic-Alert bracelet in the past. That was my parents’ thing. It made them drive me home rather than to the station or a psych ward. Unfortunately since it said “reassure and protect”, I got patronized a lot too, but it kept me mostly out of trouble.
