[Pattern blocks made into a radially symmetric pattern with red trapezoids and tan thin rhombuses in the middle.]

josiahd has been making me want to get my old pattern blocks out. So tonight I did. I made this from all but seven pieces of the set I have left. I didn’t use them because they’d break the symmetry. (I have always loved radial symmetry.)

Fey interfered. A lot. She sat on the green triangles and swatted me, claws out, if I reached for anything near her. I ended up having to throw a piece to distract her and then snatch other pieces while she was staring at it.

I think these are from the 1970s so they’re kind of grungy. And there’s probably tons of pieces missing. Especially because I sometimes carry blue rhombuses around with me everywhere to squeeze in my hands.

They’re the old wooden ones where squares are orange, hexagons are yellow, fat rhombuses are blue, thin rhombuses are plain light wood, trapezoids are red, and triangles are green. I have never been able to force myself to like the plastic ones or the ones where the colors are wrong.

Hopefully I can post more of these. I’ve always loved making as many variants on this general theme as possible. But this was exhausting. Even though I was just laying on the floor, I managed to get out of breath and break a sweat and get nauseated. So I don’t know how often I can do this. (This is why I’m in bed all the time. Seriously.) That’s also why I didn’t get the positioning as precise as I liked.
