"Songs about rough times." ?!? o_O

So there’s one staff person that loves music so we often listen to music together. I like music that tells stories, so I have a lot of that.

And he sometimes summarizes the songs on an album. But the way he does it is weirding me out.

Basically if the song is really obviously about poor people, he will say it is a “song about rough times”.

Not a song about a stranger who stays the night and tells her his life story.

Not a song about her father the minister and the way she played the piano with his sermons.

Not a song about being bullied as a kid for being poor, and how she handled it.

Not, you know, any actual story.

Just a song about rough times.
