many-splendored-rat: Courage is called a “double rex” because he has two copies of the rex gene. That means that he generally appears hairless, but occasionally gets a slight fuzz (especially on his face) & has short, curly whiskers. Howard does not have any copies of the rex gene. He has a normal coat. Alan is called a “rex rat”—he has a single copy of the rex gene. He has curly whiskers & soft, curly fur.
